Q&A:
Question by Saperlipopette: need ideas for a futon platform, please?
I currently have my queen-size futon on the floor, but it’s starting to drive me nuts, and I’d like to get (or rig up) some kind of platform bed for it. The best prices I’ve found on new, queen-size platform beds are in the 0-250 range, which is more than I can really afford to spend. Could anyone suggest any other solutions — i.e. some way of making a standard, metal bed-frame “futon-friendly” or some other way to assemble a satisfactory substitute from simple parts? (I have some basic hand tools but only modest skills and no real workspace.) Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Try IKEA. They have some interesting solutions for beds and futons. Not too expensive.
